Upon her 1999 marriage to Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, she received the title of Sophie, Countess of Wessex. In March 2023, her husband was created Duke of Edinburgh and she has since been known as "Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Edinburgh." She and Prince Edward welcomed a daughter, Lady Louise Windsor, in 2003, and a son, James, Viscount Severn, in 2007. She is a supporter of over 70 charities.
