Queen Margaret of Anjou

Wife of King Henry VI of England and Queen consort of England, who ruled the kingdom during her husband's fits of insanity. She reigned from 1445 to 1461 and then again for a brief period between 1470 and 1471. She belonged to the house of Valois-Anjou, a noble French family.

She lived in southern France and Naples during her childhood.

She married Henry VI of England in 1445. They had a son, Edward of Westminster, who died in 1471.

She is a character in William Shakespeare's plays Henry VI parts 1-3 and Richard III.
