French playwright, novelist, screenwriter, political activist, biographer, and literary critic. He was the father of Existentialism.

He was a big prankster in his school, and he forced the resignation of its director with a cartoon that he drew.

He had a lifelong open relationship with fellow philosopher and writer Simone de Beauvoir. His mother was Albert Schweitzer's first cousin.

He was a firm believer in Karl Marx's philosophies.
