At age 24, she went viral for her decision to undergo a preventative double mastectomy surgery due to losing her mother, grandmother and great aunt to breast cancer. She was the first woman to model for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit with a mastectomy.

- She was the recipient of the Women's Health Advocacy Award in March 2013 for her work educating the public about breast cancer.
